February 2025 Funds Update
We are still celebrating all the good news from our fabulous Holiday Brunch! This event was exciting – big, bright, bold and filled with lots of new features.
For the first time, we sought and found community support: A sponsor table was purchased by our friends at HEB ISD. And we visited with soooo many business owners and managers, seeking interesting items for our auction tables. This brought us 20 more supporters and dozens of wonderful baskets/auction items to showcase on our new Community Table.
With added community support and many guests invited by our loyal members, we had more attendees than ever – 92 reservations! Overall, with more guests and baskets, Feragne Villa actually ran out of tables! Not to worry – we’re already on this for this for the next Brunch!
Bringing in more guests and business not only affects our earnings, but especially heightens AAUW’s public profile and awareness of our mission. This is good for future fundraisers and bolstering membership.
Mixing new members with long-time members in our committee was a thoughtful intention. What better way to help our new members feel connected!
There were improvements made in the event hall set up and in our processes that were certainly advantageous. And the feature everyone absolutely loved…my partner, Linda, re-wrote “Twas the Night Before Christmas” into stanzas that fit our unique Club and our Holiday Brunch so beautifully! Who knew we had such a talented comedy writer in our midst?!
We thank all our committee members who said “yes” to working at the event with us. We send our gratitude to all our members who contributed beautiful items and coveted treats, and to those who bid, bid and bid again! Some of you have great stories to tell about bidding wars. Looking at you, Paula J, also Betty C!
And we especially appreciate feedback, and kind notes we’ve received following the event; notes to add to future plans. We continue to enhance ways to make this fun for our members and profitable to our finances. Speaking of which, you’ve asked, “So, how much did we make?” The financial statements show we made $6,153.00, and that means we’ve met our budgetary requirement!! We are sending young women off to college!
